"Now, I want you to be thoughtful. I urge that you be thoughtful, however,
in a positive and affirmative way concerning this the work of the Lord. This is
not any ordinary cause of which you are a part. It is in very deed the Church
and kingdom of God in the earth. It is the stone which was cut out of the
mountain without hands, as Daniel saw it in vision, which should roll forth and
fill the whole earth (see Dan.
2:44-45; D&C 65:2). It
is the thing of which John the Revelator spoke when he said, 'And I saw another
angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto
them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and
people' (Rev. 14:6)." -

to the Faith," Ensign, June 1996, p. 7

"The Lord also teaches that, over the ages, if angels have ceased to
appear, it is because of unbelief and the spirit of apostasy among men. But
where there is faith, the ministry of angels will last as long as the earth
shall stand or 'there shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved.' (Moro.
7:36.) Because the Lord desires to save mankind, even until the end, He
revealed to John the Revelator that in the latter days angels would again fly
through the midst of heaven as emissaries of the Almighty. John saw that one of
these angels would fly from heaven to earth and would bring the everlasting
gospel back to earth, it having been lost to mankind over the ages. (See Rev.
14:6.)" - Mark E. Petersen, "The
Angel Moroni Came!" Ensign, November 1983, p. 29

"We know that God is known only by revelation, that he stands revealed or
remains forever unknown. We must go to the scriptures-not to the scientists or
philosophers-if we are to learn the truth about Deity. Indeed, John's great
prophecy about the restoration of the gospel by an angel who should fly in the
midst of heaven says that it was to occur so that men could come to a knowledge
of the true God and be taught: 'Fear God, and give glory to him... and worship
him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.' (Rev.
14:7.) In other words, beginning with the restoration of the gospel in this
dispensation, men once again would be called upon to worship and serve their
Creator rather than the false concepts of Deity that prevail in the world."

Most Important Knowledge," Ensign, May 1971, p. 2-3

"We testify to all the world that heavenly ministers have already appeared
in our age, bringing authority from heaven and restoring truths lost through
corrupted teachings and practices. God has spoken anew and continues to provide
guidance for all his children through a living prophet today. We declare that
he, as promised, is with his servants always and directs the affairs of his
Church throughout the world. As in times past, revelation directs missionary
labors, the building of temples, the calling of priesthood officers, and warns
against the evils of society that may deny salvation to our Father's
children." - Howard W. Hunter, "No
Man Shall Add to or Take Away," Ensign, May 1981, p. 65

"'And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the
everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every
nation, kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and
give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that
made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.' (Rev.
14:6-7) That is the prophecy. Who in all the world should receive the angel?
A philosopher, a statesman, a wise man, a scholar? No, a boy; place your trust
in boys and they will not fail you. When the Father himself, the great Creator
of the heavens and the earth, wanted to deliver an important message to the
world, he called a boy. The angel flew through the midst of heaven; the angel
delivered the message. Was it done by divine providence or by the wisdom of
Joseph Smith, a boy-age fourteen?" - Richard R. Lyman, "Conference
Report," April 1924, p. 142
